Getting the most from your board
An effective board is more than a collection of individuals and the sum of their talents. To be high-functioning, all of a board’s members must be engaged and there should be what The Harvard Business Review calls “a virtuous cycle of respect, trust and candor.”
Creating the team dynamics to foster this cycle is the work of our Board Development program. Building respect and trust leads to candid communications, which is critical for the sort of constructive disagreement that leads to breakthrough ideas. It is especially important for integrating new board members who bring diversity of experience and thought to an otherwise homogenous board.
Conveniently scheduled to coincide with a board dinner, the Board Development program starts with our exclusive Visiva Leadership™ assessment of all board members, which builds self-awareness as well as a deeper understanding of others’ thinking and motivations. The session includes a program customized to board goals on topics such as communicating effectively, team-building, and leadership development. The program concludes with individual follow-up with each member.
